Bouncy is the opposite end of our line from Embrace. Where Embrace absorbs, Bouncy returns. Step on it and it pushes back — not stiff, but lively. It is the pick if you are already comfortable with arch support and found softer insoles felt like walking in sand.

5mm — thin enough to actually run in

A running shoe's factory sockliner is usually four to six millimetres. At 5mm, Bouncy is close to a straight swap: pull the original out, put this in, and the fit barely changes. That is the difference between support you run in and support that ends up in a drawer.

It is also the second-thinnest in our line, so it works in any shoe that is snug but not dress-shoe tight.

If your feet hurt after activity rather than during it

That timing usually means impact that never got absorbed — common with a high, stiff arch that does not flatten much on landing. What is missing in that case is rebound, not cushioning. Adding softness to a foot that is not absorbing shock tends to feel better for a mile and worse for five.

What makes it different

Like everything we make, Bouncy uses open-cell foam. Most insoles use closed-cell foam — sealed gas bubbles that feel good new, then permanently collapse under repeated load. The trade calls this pack-out, and it is the reason insoles stop working while still looking fine.

Open-cell foam has interconnected cells, so air moves through as the foam loads and releases. It displaces rather than crushes, and recovers between steps. For a high-rebound foam this matters twice over — rebound is exactly the property that pack-out destroys first.

• 35mm arch height, measured to the top of the finished insole — built for the tall end of the arch range. Trim-to-fit
