Flat feet do not automatically need correction or special insoles. If they are comfortable and allow you to do your usual activities, their appearance alone is not a reason to change your footwear. The NHS flat-feet guidance makes that distinction clearly.
If you want more underfoot comfort, arch support is worth assessing by how it meets your foot, not by how high or firm it looks. A useful match should feel comfortable inside the shoes you actually wear.
What arch support contributes
A shaped insole gives the arch a surface to meet. The heel cup creates a defined place for the heel to sit, while cushioning changes the feel at the contact surface. Each part has a different job, and more of one is not automatically better.
PerseveranX pairs open-cell PU cushioning with a contoured comfort base and a shaped TPU frame. You choose between cushioning feels; you are not choosing a diagnosis-specific correction. The shared frame supports the arch and cradles the heel, with cushioning between your foot and that firmer foundation.
For the terminology behind foot movement, read overpronation vs. supination. A foot’s visible arch and the way it moves should not be reduced to a single shopping label.
Check the match in your shoe
- Arch position: does the contour meet the arch comfortably, without a focal spot that digs in?
- Heel position: is the heel seated comfortably, with enough room inside the back of the shoe?
- Forefoot space: can the toes move comfortably after the insole is fitted?
Use the size and trimming guide before cutting. Replace the original insert only when it is designed to come out, and leave glued or sewn-in linings in place. If the contour is uncomfortable, forcing yourself to tolerate it is not the goal.
Decide how much give you enjoy
Embrace is softly contouring with low bounce. It is a starting point for someone who enjoys an easily yielding cushion as they stand and shift weight. Fusion retains cushioning with a firmer, more substantial feel and less easy sink than Embrace, also with low bounce.
Fusion availability: Fusion is temporarily unavailable and is not accepting orders. Restock timing is not yet confirmed. Request a notification for your size.
Neither preference means that your feet need stronger correction. It is a choice about the contact feel above the foundation. Both use material selected to recover after pressure and resist lasting flattening, helping the cushioning keep its character through repeated wear.
When the question needs more than an insole
Get a professional assessment if your feet become painful, stiff, weak, or numb, if walking or balance is affected, or if a flat arch is new or appears on only one side. The NHS explains that footwear, insoles, or exercise may help symptoms where treatment is needed, but do not change the foot’s shape.
